Athletics and other after-school activities are a key part of the educational program at SVA. As with the other aspects of the school, our co-curricular program reflects and supports the mission of the school. Athletic opportunities in basketball, softball, track and cross-country help students develop:
  • Confidence, positive self-esteem and moral character
  • The social skills to effectively interact and cooperate with others
  • Self-discipline, sound work habits and perseverance
  • An understanding of commitment, responsibility and loyalty
  • The skills and knowledge necessary to compete in a given sport
  • An appreciation for health, physical conditioning, and lifetime recreation

Co-curricular activities such as the Book Club, Cheerleading, Culture Club, Dance, Drama Club, Drill Team, Glee Club, Hand Bell Choir, Literary Magazine, National Honor Society, Spiritual Life Committee, Student Forum, Twirling, Web Page Design, Women Helping Others (WHO), Yearbook and a peer leadership program also help enrich and extend the education of our young women. Each June, with support from the College of Saint Elizabeth and the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, SVA's student leaders attend a leadership development program at the College of Saint Elizabeth.

In short, academic studies, co-curricular activities, leadership development and sports competition are all part of the SVA experience.
