We are thrilled to have completed successfully our capital campaign, Building on Tradition. We raised $8.5 million from generous individuals, alumnae, foundation and corporations to help us meet the educational needs of our current and future students by erecting a new academic wing.
Providence Hall includes:
Library/media research center
Distance learning/production center
Suite of new classrooms and laboratories
Fine arts studio
Combination gymnasium/auditorium
Guidance center
Development/alumnae suite
The new structure complements the existing building (parts of it circa 1869) wonderfully well. We expect that strangers passing by assume that the entire complex has been here for some time. Anyone who steps inside, however, will realize instantly that the new addition is a product of the 21st century.
The new building makes it possible for us to offer our young women the kind of technology-based learning that their counterparts in suburban schools take for granted: an on-site research library offering distance learning opportunities, flexible classrooms and computer labs that are easily adapted to multiple needs, a fine arts studio offering traditional arts study along with computer-based graphic design training. We also have enough room to devote appropriate space to career planning and guidance activities, and the professional development and alumnae offices will enhance our fundraising and alumnae outreach efforts. The gym/auditorium provides great flexibility in hosting athletic events, performances and other special programs for students and alumnae, as well as development events such as Friends in Concert, our major annual fund-raising dinner.
Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made Providence Hall possible !
